ABOUT CRACKS IN SIDEWALKS
CRACKS IN SIDEWALKS is my tiny obsession. I have been fascinated by them ever since I can remember. Over the years, I would say I have become a professional voyeur of cracks in sidewalks. Their shapes, the way they break apart, what surfaces in the spaces they create, how they look after it rains; these things jump out at me and I am compelled to take a photo. They capture my imagination. To me they are beautiful.
ABOUT THE BLOG
In 2008 I started a blog. I wanted to do something unusual and write about the co-star rather than the star; little undiscovered restaurants, independent movies, and brilliant musicians. It had to be small or out of the ordinary. When it came time to title my blog I chose the name CRACKS IN SIDEWALKS, as it perfectly mirrored the metaphor of what I would be writing about. I posted daily photos and wrote my articles. I loved my site! Then three years ago I began writing a novel. I put aside my blog, but I could never stop taking photos of cracks in sidewalks, so I decided it was time to do something with them and I opened this gallery and store. My earlier blog has been archived onto this site. There are a lot of fun articles and videos. The new blog will sport a “Featured Photo,†and a short article. I expect it will surprise even me.
ABOUT THE STORE
The CRACKS IN SIDEWALKS STORE features 5×7 blank Art Cards from the collection of constantly changing unique and imaginative photos of cracks in sidewalks that you’ll discover in our gallery. The store will be as varied as the photos it represents and like cracks in sidewalks it will always be in flux.
