About “Good Job”
“Good Job” – I had a bit part as a waitress in the movie “Fur”, the Diane Arbus biopic directed by Steven Shainberg, starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. Most of it, meaning my role, ended up on the cutting room floor including the scene where I served them French fries. But after my first take with them, Nicole came up to me and patted me on my shoulder and in her beautiful Australian accent she simply said, “good job”. I guess she realized how intimidating it could be to walk in cold to a set and have one of your first takes be a small intimate scene with two of Hollywood’s most respected actors. Her gesture was small, but to me it said a lot.
Ever since then whenever a friend of mine does something good, I find myself imitating Nicole’s voice and saying, “good job” the way I remember her saying it to me.
So this section of my blog will be dedicated to acknowledgement and support, but this will be the acknowledgement, support and promotion of issues, charities and events that touch me in some way and have the capacity to do something good. It is to help draw attention to efforts and causes. It’s about education, putting an end to world hunger, curing diseases, helping the environment, or events that are taking place to support world disasters. It’s about charities and acts of kindness both large and small.
It is my hope that this portion of my blog will help to generate publicity and support for your event or cause, and it is my way of saying “good job!”
