Daily Crack - Brazilian Film Festival

The Reel Brazilian Film Festival, “CineFest Petrobras Brazil” is taking place in NYC this week.  I’m a little late in getting the news out as they had free music and screenings in Central Park this past weekend, but the festival runs through the 16th, so I thought, better late then not at all.

Having done this once before, the festival is a lot of fun and very lively.  I also love Brazilian culture and Brazilian music.  I use to name my cats after Antonio Carlos Jobim tunes.

The festival is sponsored by Central Park SummerStage, The United Nations Building, and the Tribeca Cinemas, and encompasses a number of events including screenings and competitive screenings, concerts, meetings, and networking.   If you’re a fan of Brazilian culture at all, this is a good way to immerse yourself in Portuguese and the flavor of Brazil for a week, or if you find yourself really busy, go to one screening.   It could be a fun way to get a small taste of something different.  Also visitors to NY, this is something none of your other friends will have done, and what a good story and adventure.

The Tribeca Cinemas will be showing films from the festival this Monday through Saturday, at 6:30pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm nightly.  They are also having music nightly at 10pm.  Below is a link to the festival website.  Check it out.   It will provide more information as to what movies are playing when, and if that particular screening still has seats available, etc.  You can also learn more about the music and other activities that will be taking place.
